Justin Mott

Justin Mott

When searching for travel photographers, I firstly came across Justin Mott. I instantly fell in love with his work, as he captures some of the most amazing scenes and cultural photographs. Justin likes to keep all of his photograph's in colour, making the colours within the photo; enhanced, to create a more fascinating and eye-catching photograph.
Justin Mott is an american photographer, who has recently started living in Vietnam. Justin's career within photography has taken a massive turn since he first started taking photos in 2004. Since then, he regularly appears on the TV hit Photo Face-off and produces photo journals for other television companies.

When coming across Justin's work, I really liked the photograph of the elephant in the water with the woman underneath (shown above). This instantly drawn me in to look further into his work, as this photograph alone shows how unique and creative Justin is as a person. I really like the way he has captured the woman swimming underneath the water and the elephant above. It shows viewers that animals and humans can all get on in a civilised manner, making peace between both. However, this photograph may spark a negative opinion to some people, this is because in Thailand and many other places elephants are being rode by humans. A lot of people are against this, as the elephants are tortured from a young age, making them more obedient towards humans.
This makes the photo even more interesting, as no one knows whether Justin has taken this photograph to show awareness, or if he has taken it from a cultural point of view.

As this is my first artist I've researched to do with travel, I cannot compare his work yet with any one else. However, I already know that the way he produces his work in colour is something that I would do to my final piece. This is because, it shows the viewers a clear understanding of what I'm talking about.
The two other artists that I have chosen are both cultural photographers too, so therefore I already know that Justin's work is extremely different
